How to Transition into Fall Style

School is in full swing, and fall is here. The Missouri weather has been crazy lately though, and the temperature can change 20 degrees in one day. During hotter days, you want to start with basic things and have one focus piece. Pictured above on the left, a fun skirt with a solid colored top is one way to go about it! Another way is to pair basic colored shorts with a cardigan or sweater to keep yourself warm in the classroom. You never want to look like you’re “overdoing” it or you’re trying too hard. You want to give a easy going and flirty feel. Always add dainty accessories if you can, and don’t throw too much into one piece. Pair your outfits with cute sneakers such as Vans, Keds or Converse, or you can pair them with stylish sandals!

For those chilly days, wearing boots is the best way to go. It rains and snows more often, so it’s better to be prepared than sorry. Hunter boots, Sorel boots and other brands that are made specifically to withhold the winter seasons are good to have. Layering is key, whether it is with scarves, cardigans, vests or thick socks. Own a variety of these pieces to choose the way you want to layer. It is stylish and trendy because it incorporates more color into your wardrobe and more volume. Add a hat or sunglasses for the sunny and cold days.

Prepare your wardrobe, Glossers!

Greek Life: Bring Down the House with Your Outfit at Chapter

For all my Glossers that are involved in Greek life, get ready for another crazy year of chapter! My house’s chapter falls on Monday, which is convenient for me to get it out of my week’s schedule. However, I do find joy in planning my outfits because chapter requires you to look your best because you are representing your house.

In the fall time, simplicity is key. It may be a bit chilly, but you’re going to be in a room with 50, 100 or 200 other girls. You want to dress appropriately so that you aren’t sweating and that you are comfortable sitting down for an hour or so. Preferably, I would wear a one-piece dress like the one pictured above, with some nice strappy sandals or heels. I like to match my metals when dressing for chapter. It completes the outfit by making it look neat. Keep your hair and makeup simple, and you’re ready to go!

In the winter time, a knit skirt with a sweater and pea coat would be ideal. If you decide to wear a skirt or dress pants, make sure you pair it with stockings or tights. It will keep you warm if you have to walk to chapter, and it will keep your body nice and cozy. Pair the outfit with heels or boots to complete the look. Add some dainty accessories if you choose!

Springtime has to be my favorite! I can pair my brightest dresses with my strappy heels! I can mix and match different patterns and get away with it without overdoing it. I love to pair a bright colored dress, like the one pictured above, or some fun shorts with a blouse. To complete the look, I always wear high heels that elongate my legs such as nude wedges or nude heels.

Have an exciting upcoming year, Glossers!

Build Your Best Back-to-School Wardrobe Ever

School is starting sooner than you know it! What better way to start than having a fresh new closet to put different outfits together? Campus Style: Sports Apparel

Ladies, get your sports apparel together! Whether it may be a baseball game, football game or a basketball game, you can look cute even to sporting events! Since I am from Chicago, the Cubbies are my team of choice. A shirt of your team is definitely needed. Throw on your favorite pair of jean shorts or trendy high waisted shorts with a tank or shirt representing your team tucked in. Complete the look with a hat and some cute sneakers!

In the colder weather, you can pair a top with your team logo on it with jeans and a pair of boots. If you don’t have the T-shirt or apparel with your team’s logo, an alternative is incorporating the colors of your team into your outfit. It’s a cheaper way to go about attending a sporting event!

Sports apparel is sold anywhere from Target to Dick’s Sporting Goods. It might also be sold in local boutiques or local stores that support the teams!

Until next time, Glossers!

Campus Style: Country Concert

During the summer, country concerts seem 10 times more fun due to the relaxed environment, especially because there is no school! A trend I’ve been seeing is people wearing things that are lightweight material, of course, the cowboy boots.

A lightweight dress that has a unique touch to it is a great garment to wear to a country concert in the summertime. Lately, designers and companies have been coming out with dresses that have an extremely unique touch to it, much like the one featured above. It incorporates crochet fringe and the lovable and popular trend that is off-the-shoulders.

With any outfit, make sure to add your own touch to it by adding some accessories. With a busy dress like this that I want all of the focus to be on, I don’t want to add any loud accessories that will take away from it. These are just little dainty bracelets I have collected over the years. I layered them together to glam up the outfit a bit more!

You definitely need a pair of cowboy boots when attending a country concert. The ones featured above are from DSW and they are the brand White Mountain.

Get excited for more upcoming summer concerts because you definitely do not want to miss out! Have a rockin’ night, Glossers!

Flaunt Fabulous Style for the Fourth

Fourth of July is right around the corner! Before you know it, you’ll be seeing fireworks and lots of red, white and blue! This week, I’ve come up with two outfits. One is for a fun party or gathering with family and friends. The other is a fancier way to incorporate the colors of this holiday.

It is key to wear something that has red, white and blue or the American flag on this special day. American flag shorts have been extremely popular. What better way than to wear those shorts on the Fourth of July?! Pair the shorts with a graphic tank or T-shirt and throw on some cute sneakers! Converse or vans are a great way to keep the outfit casual, but it also completes the outfit for a fun Fourth of July outfit!

For a fancier outfit, white skinny jeans are great. They are extremely easy to work with because they match with everything. Pair them with some wedges or nude heels to elongate your legs, and for an even more unique outfit, pair a red handkerchief around your neck like the one in the picture above. Any flowy top paired with the white skinny jeans should do it!

Pair accessories accordingly, and have an awesome and safe Fourth of July, Glossers!

Campus Style: Date Night

A dinner date could mean something casual or something a bit more fancy. You can never go wrong with maxi dresses. You can make any maxi dress look more dressed up with the right accessories.

Here I am wearing a forest green maxi dressed purchased from Windsor. It has a mini layer underneath that is a dark tan color. The dark green pops against the brown slip. This summer, making colors pop by adding neutrals into your wardrobe is a very big trend!

Simple sandals are the perfect touch to a maxi dress without overdoing the outfit. You want all of the attention to go towards your dress, of course!

Accessories like belts, rings and bracelets make the dress appear more fancy. My bracelets are purchased from BCBG, rings are from Forever 21 and the shoes are from Target.

Be sure to include some maxi dresses in your closet for this summer. If you're ever confused on what to wear, just know a maxi dress can be dressed up or down.

Have a great dinner date, Glossers!

Campus Style: Girl's Night Out

If it’s a girls night out, you know you’re going to want to look your best! Molly (pictured below) is wearing an outfit that is edgy, girly and definitely an outfit appropriate for a night out on the town! Her top is from Urban Outfitters, skirt from Forever 21, and her shoes from Steve Madden.

Urban Outfitters is known to be very popular among teens and college students. A popular trend is pairing a plain bottom, whether it is a skirt or shorts, with an edgy top, such as the one Molly is wearing, that has cuts of fabric that drape along the sides. It’s different and unique and shows a bit of skin without being too overwhelming. It’s a flirty top that can be worn with any plain bottom!

The skirt that’s featured is from the all-time favorite store, Forever 21. Forever 21 is an affordable and trendy store that carries the closet every girl wants. Basic mini body con skirts are a must-have in your wardrobe no matter what season because they look good alone or with tights! Make sure to grab some mini skirts, brights and neutrals, so you can complete your wardrobe!

High heel wedges elongate the legs, especially if they’re nude. These shoes are purchased from Steve Madden. Any nude heel is a must-have, but a nude wedge with a pop of color is perfect for the summer time and perfect to add some fun into your outfit!

Don’t forget to add in accessories! If you want to take your outfit to the next level without overdoing it, go ahead and mix-match your metals! However, if you want to complete the outfit with a simple touch of your accessories, make sure to match all of your metals, and I’m talking about matching your metals to that tiny silver or gold buckle on your shoes!

Enjoy your night out on the town, Glossers!

How to Ace Summer Class Style

Summer’s here! That means time to bring out our favorite swimsuits, skirts, crop tops and bright colors! However, there is this one thing called summer school that some of us have in the way of our fun. You can still come up with a super summery outfit that incorporates all of these things for an outfit for summer school!

Kathryn (pictured above) is a fashionista is from L.A. who attends Mizzou and is ready for her summer classes to begin as she wears a basic tank with a fun pair of destroyed high-waisted shorts and some cute strappy sandals. A new trend is tying long and flowy basic tanks on the front or side to create a more fun and flirty look aside from just a basic tank. It adds a different twist to any outfit. This basic loose tank is from Brandy Mellville, a very popular and unique boutique in southern California! Basic tanks are a must-have for the summer because they go with any outfit and are something you can just throw on and you’re out the door! A key thing is to pair them with cute accessories such as a statement necklace, bangles or bold earrings.

Destroyed high-waisted shorts are definitely a staple piece to have in your wardrobe. Throw in some fun ones like ombre, neon and studded pairs, too! They are so edgy and easy to pair with because the focus is on the shorts. These cutoffs are in style and will be for many seasons. Something else to pair with them besides a basic tank for a summer class would be a graphic T-shirt or tank. They have been all over recent magazines and worn by many celebrities. These shorts in particular are from Brandy Mellville, as well.

Summer means bringing out the cute sandals and gladiators we all have. Strappy sandals can add more versatility to the outfit rather than just plain old flip flops. T-strap sandals, gladiators, strappy sandals and more are important when spicing up a summer’s day outfit! These strappy black sandals Kathryn wears were purchased from Marshalls.

Have fun being stylish in summer school, Glossers!
