How to Pack Like A Pro This Summer

Whether you’re heading to an exotic location, visiting relatives, or simply staying at home until classes start again in the fall, I’m willing to bet you will need to pack at some point this summer. The thing about packing, Glossers, is that it is often times mundane and/or stressful, so here are some tips to ease your packing pains.

1. Plan your outfits
Instead of just throwing some clothes together, make sure to plan out what you will be wearing. This tip may seem obvious, but I cannot tell you how many times I have just thrown some clothes in my suitcase and called it a day. When you plan your outfits, you are much less likely to overpack. You can also use outfit planning to mix and match accessories, shoes and separates to streamline what you are packing.

2. Make a list and check it twice
When you’re doing last minute packing, making a list may seem too time consuming at first. However, making a list will ensure that you have everything you need on your trip. When making your list, make sure to be detailed about everything, down to little things such as socks or toothpaste. As you pack your suitcase, cross each item off your list. Make sure that you don’t anticipate packing items and cross things off the list before you pack them (it happens to the best of us)!

3. Roll your clothes
When you’re packing shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, or other thin shirts, try rolling instead of folding them. This trick saves a lot of space and helps smaller items fit into the empty spaces around the edges of your suitcase or in between stacks of clothes. I learned this tip a few years ago, and it has never failed me!

4. Streamline your beauty routine
Try and cut down on products when traveling and realize that you probably won’t do your standard weekly facial mask when you’re on vacation. Since products tend to weigh more, make sure to pare your beauty routine down to the bare essentials when flying or when you know you will be lugging around your suitcase. Many products, such as bb creams, can replace several of your products and will save you time and space when packing.

5. Throw a packing party
If you’re going on a family vacation, suggest everyone pack at the same time. You can blast music throughout the house as well as make sure they have everything they need. If you’re packing alone, crank your favorite music and dance while you pack everything you need. We all know music makes everything much more fun, so why wouldn’t you want to improve the mundane task that is packing?

Happy travels, Glossers! Be sure to let us know where you’re headed this summer in the comments!
